Our Story
This is Parker, he is a 5 year old Miniature Dachshund. He is our pampered darling boy and quite rightly so. Look how handsome he is!
In November 2022, Parker was diagnosed with Grade 5 IVDD which is the most severe grade. Even with immediate surgery, and all the therapies offered, he is still paralysed in his back legs.
IVDD, or Intervertebral Disc Disease, is a spinal disorder that follows from the herniating of an intervertebral disc, prevalent in Dachshunds. When the intervertebral disc herniates, it can result in concussion or compression of the spinal cord, causing lasting and debilitating damage.
Dogs can still live a normal life with IVDD which is why we created Stay Furever to offer a home from home boarding service to Dachshunds and other IVDD survivors to help families who simply need a well deserved break but knowing they are leaving their dogs in trusting experienced hands! Something we realised not many boarders can offer.
Please note, we don’t just take IVDD survivors, all Dachshunds are welcome here!
